Self-taught artist
As a child, I was surrounded by the family ghosts, especially my grandfather’s,
whose paintings were hanging in the living room..
I was fascinated by the canvases and by the man who’d painted them:
I used to picture his life, through the landscapes he was painting.
In my family everyone was assigned a role, and assignment: I was the writer.
My brother Robert was the official artist; hence I was drawing by stealth.
As an adult I finally devoted myself to this passion as I was living independently from my family, creating every now and then.
Like my grand-father Jean, I am a self-taught artist.
My art can be likened either to Outsider Art, either to Figuration Libre.
I enjoy experimenting with all sorts of materials.
Since 2014 when I retired from teaching, I sign as EFKA.
